The TAB trailer traces its origins to its original designer, Tabbert, a European company based in Denmark. In the early 2000s, Tabbert introduced the trailer, and its name was derived by abbreviating the company’s name—Tabbert to TAB—symbolizing the transition from a full-sized RV to a more compact, "abbreviated" RV.

The @ symbol was later incorporated into the name (T@B) purely for branding and stylistic differentiation.

nuCamp acquired the rights to the TAB in 2010. As the brand expanded, the TAG trailer emerged as a smaller version of the TAB in 2013. The name TAG was a natural choice, maintaining brand consistency while playfully referencing its function as a "tag-a-long" trailer.
