Condensation inside your nuCamp RV can lead to mold and mildew, which can be harmful to both your health and your camper. To maintain a dry and comfortable environment, follow these tips to reduce condensation while camping and during storage.
1. Ventilate Your Windows While Camping
nuCamp windows have two modes: fully closed and ventilation mode. Keeping your windows in the ventilation position allows air to circulate while keeping the windows closed.
- The first slot on the window latch is for ventilation mode, while the outermost catch fully closes the window.
- If you choose to use the blinds while in ventilation mode, leave a small portion of the screen open for proper airflow.
- Avoid keeping shades drawn for extended periods to prevent warping and loss of their folds. Always retract shades when storing or traveling.
- Important: Before driving, fully close all windows to prevent damage.
2. Use Your Roof Vent Fan
For optimal airflow, open your roof vent and run the fan, even at a low speed. This will help circulate air and reduce moisture buildup inside your camper.
3. Ensure Your Mattress is Well-Ventilated
Long-term storage can lead to moisture buildup under the mattress, especially if airflow is restricted.
- If your camper has a Froli Sleep System, it will help keep the mattress ventilated while in use.
- For storage, consider propping up the mattress or relocating it to an area with better airflow to prevent mold and mildew growth.
4. Ventilate Your Fridge During Storage
When storing your RV long-term, turn off the fridge and put it into ventilation mode.
- Many fridges have a slider to adjust for ventilation mode, allowing for airflow and preventing mold or mildew buildup.
- Before using the fridge again, switch it back to lock mode to ensure it stays securely closed during travel.
5. Storing Your Camper with Shore Power
If you have access to shore power while storing your RV:
- Put windows in ventilation mode and use the roof vent fan to circulate air.
- Alternatively, keep the windows closed and use a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture. Check and empty the dehumidifier bin regularly.
6. Storing Your Camper Without Shore Power
If shore power is not available:
- Close all windows tightly to keep out moisture.
- Use moisture absorbers like DampRid to help pull excess moisture from the air and prevent condensation-related issues.
By following these simple steps, you can prevent condensation buildup, keeping your nuCamp RV fresh, dry, and in great condition for your next adventure. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact our support team at tech@nucamprv.com.
