We currently only use the Multiplus in campers equipped with nuCamp's add-on 'Lithium Upgrade Package'.
We have a short video that gives an overview on some of the lithium package components & features: https://youtu.be/O04CKJNr1Ws

Most of the time you'll want to have the physical switch on the face of the Multiplus set to 'On', then use the VictronConnect app to connect over Bluetooth to change modes in software. (The default PIN to pair is six zeros: 000000)

Here is what each of these functions do on the Multiplus:

Mode - Purpose
On - All functions active (Inverting & Charging - use this mode if you want all of the 120V outlets & appliances to be active even when boondocking)

Off - All functions off (no inverter, charging, or shore power pass-through)

Charger Only - Only shore power pass-through and Charging functions active. The inverter function is disabled in this mode. This helps to conserve battery power as the inverter consumes energy while it's enabled, even if you don't have anything drawing from the 120V. We recommend people stay in this mode most of the time and then just switch to 'On" mode if you want to enable the inverter so you can use a 120V item when off-grid, then switch back to 'Charger Only' when finished.

Inverter Only - Generally not used, mostly there for testing purposes

The Multiplus also has the ability to limit how much amperage you want it to pull from the shore power connection. Most of the time this will be set to 30A by default, but this can be very handy if you plug into more limited shore power options like a 15A household outlet or a small generator.

It's considered good practice to set this a smidge lower than the actual amperage rating of your power source to avoid tripping any breakers. Some circuits can be shared and may be powering other loads elsewhere.

For example:

15A household outlet - set to 12A or lower

20A household outlet - set to 16A or lower

Usually you want to aim for 80% of the circuit's rated amperage

When the inverter is enabled, the Multiplus also has the unique ability to use energy from the batteries to assist the shore power connection by using supplemental inverter power to make up the difference. This can allow you to exceed the capabilities of your shore power connection for short amounts of time to absorb surges in power consumption.
