1. General Inspection Before Application

  • When taking your unit out of winter storage, inspect all caulking for cracks, holes, or deterioration.
  • Use a flashlight to check for any signs of wear or gaps in the sealant.
  • Identify whether the existing caulking needs removal or if new caulking can be applied over the old layer.
  • If the caulking is in poor condition, remove it using a plastic scraper or a utility knife. Applying heat (heat gun, hair dryer, or hot weather) can help soften the old caulking.

2. Selecting the Right Sealant

  • Exterior (Non-Roof Areas): Use Geocel ProFlex RV as an alternative to the harder-to-find Geocel MHRV
  • Roof Areas: Use Dicor Lap Sealant for sealing areas such as fans, vents, and solar panel connectors.
  • Interior (Wet Areas): Use Geocel ProFlex RV for wet baths and around portal windows.
  • Interior (Kitchen Areas): Use Quick Seal for sinks and cooktops.

3. Exterior Inspection and Application

Front of the Trailer

  • Inspect and apply caulking where the front seam meets the sidewall.
  • Check under the diamond plate where it meets the floor.

Sidewalls

  • Accessory Rails: Run your finger along the entire rail, checking for cracks.
  • Portal Windows: Inspect around the edges for signs of wear and reapply matching caulking if needed.
  • AC Exhaust: Check the caulking around the edges.
  • Exterior Components with Rubber Gaskets(No need for caulking unless leaking is observed):
    • Radio antenna
    • 30-amp exterior connection
    • Alde flue
  • Nautilus Door: If there are signs of leakage, remove screws and recaulk underneath.

Rear of the Trailer

  • Inspect the seam where the back wall meets the floor.
  • Check low-point drains and drain lines underneath the unit. Apply caulking where the flooring and hose meet if needed.

Door Side Exterior

  • Inspect and recaulk the accessory rails.
  • Check around the main door and its window for any gaps.
  • Inspect and seal the portal window if necessary.
  • GFI Outlets: These have gaskets, so no caulking is needed.

4. Roof Inspection and Application

  • Use Dicor Lap Sealant for all roof-related components:
    • MaxxAir fan and vents
    • Black tank vent
    • MC4 connectors for solar panels
  • Check for cracks and apply sealant where necessary to prevent water intrusion.

5. Interior Inspection and Application

Wet Bath

  • Use Geocel ProFlex RVaround:
    • Countertop edges
    • Shower pan edges
    • Where the ceiling meets the wall or cabinetry
    • The inner edge of the portal window

Kitchen Area

  • Use Quick Sealaround:
    • The sink perimeter
    • The burner cooktop

Final Checks

  • Ensure all newly applied caulking is smooth and properly sealed.
  • Allow adequate drying time as per manufacturer instructions before exposing to water or outdoor conditions.
