When traveling with your RV, it’s essential to ensure your windows are properly secured. If they aren’t fully latched, they can come loose — and in some cases, fly off while you’re driving.
Your windows have two latch positions: ventilation mode and fully locked. If the latch is positioned in the center of the catch, the window is in ventilation mode.
For travel, the latch must be pushed to the outside of the catch, which is the fully locked position.
Next, check the extending arms on the window. Make sure the adjustment knobs are tightened securely for added stability.
Before hitting the road, always confirm that your windows are in the fully locked position. This simple step helps prevent damage — and keeps your windows safely in place during travel.
From the outside, a quick visual check can help. If you see a gap between the window and the exterior, or if you can partially fit your hand inside the window, it is not properly latched and needs to be secured before driving.
