Before heading out for the camping season, it’s important to properly dewinterize and sanitize your TAB 320 LITE’s freshwater system. Follow the steps below to safely flush out antifreeze and prepare your unit for use.
Step 1: Drain Any Remaining Antifreeze
- Open the gray tank valve and allow it to fully drain.
- Once drained, close the gray tank valve.
- Open both the hot and cold low-point drains to empty any remaining fluid from the water lines.
Allow all lines to fully drain before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Prepare the Sanitizing Solution
Sanitizing your fresh water system helps eliminate bacteria and ensures safe water for use. A commonly recommended ratio from RV industry experts (such as Go RVing) is: ¼ cup of household bleach per 15 gallons of water
At this ratio, the solution must remain in the system for 12 hours to sanitize effectively. A stronger bleach solution may be flushed through immediately, but the above ratio is recommended for thorough sanitization.
Step 3: Add Bleach and Fill the Fresh Water Tank
- Add the appropriate amount of bleach to your fresh water tank using the gravity fill.
- Fill the tank completely with fresh water.
- Monitor your tank level carefully to avoid overfilling.
Step 4: Run the Sanitizing Solution Through the System
- Turn on the water pump.
- Run water through all faucets and fixtures, including: -Kitchen sink -Bathroom sink -Outdoor shower
- Run water through both hot and cold lines at each fixture.
- If using the recommended ratio, allow the solution to sit in the system for 12 hours.
Step 5: Drain the System After sanitizing:
- Open the hot and cold low-point drains.
- Drain the gray tank.
- Drain the fresh water tank completely.
- Once fully drained, close all valves and drains.
Step 6: Flush the System with Fresh Water
- Refill the fresh water tank with clean water.
- Turn on the water pump.
- Run fresh water through all faucets and fixtures (hot and cold lines) to flush out the bleach solution.
Tip: You may need to fill and flush the system multiple times to completely remove any residual bleach smell.
Step 7: Final Drain
- Drain the system one final time if desired.
- Turn off the water pump. You're Ready to Camp Your TAB 320 LITE is now fully dewinterized and ready for the camping season.
